Giving Columbia Pike its own Town Center, Penrose Square will include 30,000 square feet of specialty retail/restaurants, a new Giant supermarket with approximately 60,000 square feet and 300 luxury apartment homes. To be built on the site of the existing Adams Square shopping center, Penrose Square required an intensive rezoning effort requiring two years of planning with Arlington County and numerous interested neighborhood groups.
A Message from Giant Food In preparation for the development of your new Penrose Square shopping center, this store will permanently close on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at 11 p.m. Effective Friday, April 17, 2009, Giant will open a temporary pharmacy at 2408 Columbia Pike located opposite this shopping center. The temporary Pharmacy will remain open until the new Penrose Square Giant Food and Pharmacy store opens in 2011. To minimize any inconvenience to you, our valued customers, Giant will provide free round-trip shuttle service beginning on April 17, 2009, between our temporary pharmacy location and our Bailey’s Cross Roads store in Falls Church. The shuttle will pick up passengers directly behind the temporary pharmacy and will run on the following days and times:
We thank you for your patience and look forward to your continued patronage. Right in the heart of Arlington, Penrose Square is only a few miles from Ballston, Rosslyn, Crystal City, the Pentagon, downtown Washington, DC, and all the area's major roadways. Penrose Square is designed to enrich Columbia Pike by providing more options for both luxury living and quality shopping. Those who choose to live here will appreciate the high-end homes and centralized location while those that choose to stop in will enjoy the many desirable retail stores previously unavailable in this area.
